Born in Brooklyn, Melanie Iglesias is a New Yorker in it's
truest sense. Not only has she lived all over New York City, but she unites
just as many ethniticites as the city herself.
This super sexy model has a little bit of everything -
Filipina, Spanish, Italian, Puerto Rican, and Brazilian.
Along with her seven other siblings, Melanie Iglesias'
childhood was damaged by the friction of her parents' divorce and the struggles
of maintaining stability while constantly moving.
New homes meant new schools, and it was her high school
music teacher Joanne Nolemi who initially recognized Melanie’s inherent talent
and ambition.
Not to rest just on her looks, this sassy sexpot has also
tried her hand at singing. "What I figured out is if you really want
something you can't try to be a jack-of-all-trades, you have to master your
craft" Iglesias says of her new found musical career.
"My songs are motivational, they denote a struggle in
an up-lifting way; they are songs to make women feel better, to empower
us".
She doesn't just want to be a flash in the pan either,
making sure the products she creates are of the highest quality "I've had
major people interested in me. I turned them down because they had their own
vision and it wasn't matching mine.
There is a way this is going to work for me without changing
who I am, without changing any part of me" she says.
Iglesias is aiming high, with superstars like Jay Z and
Janet Jackson among her biggest idols, "When [my manager] told me someday
I could be like Janet I said, 'Leave Janet out of this! No one can touch
Janet'. It doesn’t mean I'm not aiming for that, though" she was quoted as
saying.
She stands no taller than 5’7” and was recently named a top
ten finalist as New York’s representative in this year’s Maxim Hometown Hotties
competition. She is also a member of the World Poker Tour’s Royal Flush Girls.
